Vegan Rant: Stop Being So Judgmental

The Quiet Before The Storm

Hello everyone! This post will most likely be a rant lol. Obviously I'm a vegan, hence the name Paige the Vegan. There is so much I learned about myself and others after going vegan. I have a new appreciation for my environment, my health, and just everything all around.  One thing I didn't expect was the feeling of community.  Its amazing to be able to talk to people who understand and shares my views. Now with the good comes the bad. There are way too many judgmental vegans.

The Vegan Rant

I am sick and tired of seeing people judge someone because they aren't vegan enough. Like are you freaking kidding me? We are all individuals! I repeat, we are all individuals! Stop trying to dissect every single thing a person does just because you don't share their views.  In general we need to stop being so sensitive and learn to just adjust and respect the choices of others. Yes in my opinion I see people do things that I don't approve of, but come the fuck on already. We are suppose to be adults, and veganism is suppose to teach a person about compassion and not thinking we are better than or superior to other species. Umm if im not mistaken, isn't bashing and being judgmental the complete opposite of what veganism stands for? Yes; we aren't eating animals but there is so much more to it.

My Views

Being a vegan isn't about your views on others in my opinion. Its about looking within yourself, and being the best version of you, so that your being as a whole creates an amazing world that all living things can strive in. Like honestly I feel like that last sentence should be a tattoo or something lol.  What im trying to say, is that there are vegans that still cook meat for their family.  There are vegans that still use products that may contain ingredients that come from animals because they can't afford to toss everything and start over.  There are vegans that have nothing else in their freezer; so they cook that frozen pizza and pick the cheese off because its all about effort.  They are seriously trying.  Rome wasn't built in a day and I wish someone would try to step to me and tell me im not vegan because of whatever.

Veganism is a mind-state. Know your WHY in everything you do.  If you know why you're doing this and your end goal is to never eat, use, harm, or contribute to exploiting animals ever again, then you're good in my book. Lay off the labels and just pace yourself. Unfotunalty we live in a shitty, judgmental world but you know your why and your truth. Don't let anyone discourage you, and tell you what you are or aren't.  After being on social media, I can see why people are afraid to say they don't eat meat.  There is a stigma that surrounds it and it can be scary.  But to speak to a vegan and be judged because your efforts aren't up to par is disgusting.  As a community we need to fix that immediately and check anyone that doesn't come correct. "Thats the NY in me!" I'm from the Bronx so get used to it coming out from time to time lol.

The Solution

Mind your business! No I'm kidding. Honestly just focus on yourself and count to 10.  If you counted to 10 and you really need to comment or say something then say it. But I will leave you with this, "How people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours."
